Gifts for the Fur Babes

Gifts for the Fur Babes

Our fur child Jim can sometimes feel like a handful, an adorable, floofy handful…but then I think of the dog we had as a kid, a boof-headed pain in the bum staffy named Jake.  My most vivid memory of him is mum chasing after him down the street in her nightie, so it must have happened quite often.

I cannot even begin to IMAGINE my parents buying him a Christmas present, or celebrating his birthday…it wouldn’t have happened in a million dog years.

But I know if we forgot Jim at Christmas, he might actually cry, his big brown eyes would fill right up with salty puppy tears. I don’t even dare imagine how hurt he’d be!

Jim loves to open presents and then carry his gift around in his mouth showing everyone what he got, it’s adorable! Whether it’s just that 30 years have passed or Jake was only deserving of coal I’m not entirely sure, but here’s a couple of local businesses to help you spoil your furry children, grandchildren nieces and nephews, just like they deserve.

Big & Little Dogs

They’ve been around for six years and have had their shopfront in Sheehan St for 12 months, how on earth I have never realised this…I will never know.  We even own a Big & Little Dogs harness, so it really makes zero sense.

Their products are gorgeous, they have harnesses, lead, poop bag holders, bandanas, bow ties, collars, car restraints and seat protectors…almost everything you could imagine.  They even stuff for us humans, backpacks, tote bags, drink bottles, coffee cups, T’s and sweaters…even the ever essential lint roller!

I am a major fan of the Christmas tartan, I hope Jim is too…

They’re celebrating their 6th birthday on the 27th November with a warehouse sale, giveaways and a host of other fun things!  To reserve a spot book a free ticket with the link below.
If you can’t make it down you can shop online anytime, and organise a click and collect from the store or have your treats delivered to your door.

6th Birthday Celebrations

Rottwear started 3 years ago, with the idea of making bandana’s available for the largest pups, they have quickly expanded their range to include dog enrichment toys, 9 year old (human child *wink*) Madison’s adorable key chains & dog necklaces and the amazing snacks and treats they are probably best known for.

There must be some very creative minds in the Rottwear household…they regularly bake up fairy bread, Yoghurt and peanut butter puffins (muffins), rainbow pupcorn, carob pops, mini peanut butter churros and even carob woofles (waffles).

They also have a huge selection of dehydrated meat treats, some things I have never seen before…some things I wish I had never seen, though I’m sure they’re the ones Jim would love the best!  Have a guess what “quackers and cluckers” are…and “prawn chips” are not the pretty pastel ones you get in a large bag when you collect your honey chicken order!

This year’s Christmas range is just about to launch, there will be doggy donut flavours like The Grinch, Turkey Dinner and Gingerbread Swirl.  I’m told there’s going to be lots of gingerbread inspired Christmas treats, as well as the gorgeous little puddings you can see above.  Madison came up with the idea, her great grandmother makes them for the family each Christmas,  so they thought a doggy friendly version would be perfect.  I can get behind that, a family tradition that can include even the fluffy members of the family? Yes please!

You can catch Rottwear at the Redcliffe markets most Sunday’s as well as online, and be brave grab a croc foot, as freaky as they look I’m sure your pup will love them!
